SOME TIPS ON GETTING STARTED WITH WORDMASTER
Hard Drive Installation
Create a directory on your hard disk to hold the WordMaster files,
e.g., C:\WM. Use the command MD WM. Put the WordMaster disk in
drive A and switch to that drive. Copy the files with the command
COPY *.* C:\WM.
To be able to load WordMaster from anywhere on your hard disk be
sure to include the WordMaster directory in your PATH in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT. And remember to set the Home Directory so WordMaster
can find its own files from any other directory. Do this with the
command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-S> or <F1, O, P, H>. And make it permanent
with the command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-D> or <F1, O, S>.
FLOPPY DRIVE USE
Most computers without a hard drive have two floppy disk drives.
You will probably want to use the program disk in drive A and keep
data files in drive B. To do this, set the Home Directory as
described above under Hard Disk Installation, but set it for A.
Then use <Shift-F1> to change to the B drive. (You may also have to
enter B the first time you open a file.)
If you put a PATH statement like PATH=a:\;b:\; in an AUTOEXEC.BAT on
your boot disk you should be able to put the WordMaster disk in
drive A, the data disk in drive B and load WordMaster from drive B
without all the above instructions.
LOADING THE PROGRAM
To load WordMaster type WM and <Enter>.
To read the WordMaster documentation file, type WM WM.DOC and
<Enter>.
PRINTING THE DOCUMENTATION
To print out the documentation file (which is designed to be printed
using WordMaster) load the file as above and use <Shift-F7> to bring
up the print menu.
BE SURE to load the right Printer Definition File (the .PDF files on
the disk) by using the Which Printer option or the fonts will not
print properly. The selection can be seen prior to calling up the
print menu by using the directory command, <Ctrl-F10> or <F1, M, D>.
Most printers can use the EPSMX80 file, but if an appropriate file
does not exist for your printer then one can be created using the
Edit Printer Codes option on the print menu. Finally, select Print
File Now to print out the documentation.
Good luck. Enjoy WordMaster!
